Submission Deadline:

Nov 30, 2012

Hurricane Sandy has been one of the worst storms to hit the east coast of the United States in history. The storm has left many cities and boroughs blacked out - leaving thousands of people without power and hot water for days, potentially weeks.

Areas such as downtown Manhattan, once known as one the busiest and most energetic areas of the world have been turned into a ghost town overnight. Without power for potentially a full week or more, people in the dark have looked to friends and families in areas with electricity for a warm shower. Stores have opened up their doors and sockets to let people power up throughout certain areas of the city.

Your brief is to find a creative solution to help alleviate these specific problems when dealing with the aftermath of a catastrophe such as Hurricane Sandy. The idea has two parts.

  1. Come up with an idea for a new product innovation, branded utility, location based service or partnership to help with people in need with limited power and connectivity.
  2. Find a way to get this out to the world. How do people find out about it?
